The Best Project About The Future
NORTHERN DOMAIN KRUUGA
The "Domains" studio of the MARCH master’s program has been studying the phenomenon of the typical in architecture throughout the year. An area of 25 hectares was chosen as the subject of the design. To describe its specificity, the studio introduced the term "domain", which literally translates as "administrative unit". A domain is part of a megalopolis outside its contour: it has advantages for living, which are typical for small cities, and at the same time, it does not claim autonomy — on the contrary, it benefits from such a dependent position.

Tatiana’s domain is located on Logmozera near Petrozavodsk and consists of "cosy fortresses" - dense quarters connected by footbridges. The distance between the quarters provides the apartments with the scarce northern sun. The shape of each block is unique, but the approach to block formation is typical: they are all dense and multifunctional, and the public functions are inseparable from the private ones. The blocks resemble a traditional Karelian house with different rooms united under its roof. Kruuga means " round dance" in Karelian. The main tasks of the domain are support and mutual assistance. The core of the domain resembles a year-round stage: any activity becomes a performance and part of the domain. In winter the central part of the lake turns into a town square open for ice fun.

PLOT 41
In the new era, we are facing many challenges related to climate change on the planet. The inhabitants of the planet should realise that they are only part of natural processes. Climate change leads to changes not only in nature, but also in socio-economic, political and cultural aspects. One day, these changes may force us to look for new places to live.

The idea of my project is to fill deforested areas with new settlements. I chose an area of 75×50 km to house 1,000,000 refugees. Usually with any construction you have to find a place, clear the area, carry out land work and prepare the transport infrastructure. But the road structure around the cleared forest areas already exists.

In my project, I deliberately omit household technologies. Given their rapid development, it is impossible to predict how the technical component will change.

Future mobility
This is a project about what type of auto body will appear in the era of unmanned electric vehicles; an attempt to predict what cars will drive on our streets, to help car brands survive the transition to a new era, and to finally link existing traditions in car design with emerging trends.

Green living. Green learning. Green leisure.
A project for the complete reconstruction of a historic building on Pokrovka Street in Moscow. A green complex for modern life, work and education.

The modern world forces us to look for more and more new concepts for implementation of a modern environmentally friendly life. This project enables us to create a lifestyle in the centre of Moscow which will not only preserve the environment but also restore natural resources.

NORTHERN DOMAIN OTHRAKKALA
The "Domains" studio of the MARCH master’s program has been studying the phenomenon of the typical in architecture throughout the year. An area of 25 hectares was chosen as the subject of the design. To describe its specificity, the studio introduced the term "domain", which literally translates as "administrative unit". A domain is part of a megalopolis outside its contour: it has advantages for living, which are typical for small cities, and at the same time, it does not claim autonomy — on the contrary, it benefits from such a dependent position.

Olga’s domain is located in Karelia near the Ruskeala Nature Park. There is an abandoned marble factory and a forest where the village Otrakkala once existed. The shape of the domain was born out of the idea to "wrap" the city around the Karelian forest. The project is a search for a non-typical solution for resettlement. The domain consists of eight sectors: a typical grid divides the main city avenue, which connects the entire domain with a tram ring, into unique parcels. The domain combines features of a city and a village street: it is built with wooden two-story houses and cooperative tower houses ranging in height from five to fifteen floors. All public spaces are in a stone stylobate 7.5 metres high. Public blocks face the main avenue. The outer and inner perimeter of the domain are residential.
